The sixth meeting of the Joint Development Cooperation Committee, the deliberative body of Italian Cooperation established by Law No.125\/2014, was held today. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, chaired the meeting. It was attended by, among others, Deputy Minister Mario Giro; Director General of Development Cooperation, Pietro Sebastiani; Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), Laura\u00a0Frigenti; and representatives of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and the Ministries of the Interior, Economy and Finance and the Environment.<\/p>\n
Approximately 60 million euros worth of initiatives, including projects, tied aid, contributions and programmes, were approved during the meeting. Among them: the Programme in support of the National Health System of the Republic of Guinea, amounting to 20 million euros; the Programme to fight against irregular migration by supporting the development of the private sector in Senegal (Plasepri II) for a value of 13 million euros; the Programme to develop natural and cultural tourism in the Departments of Cochabamba and\u00a0Potosi in Bolivia, through a 12 million euro tied aid; the Programme to reduce the rate of infant mortality in the provinces of Herat and Kabul in Afghanistan, for four million euros; and the Project to increase youth employment and <\/em>entrepreneurship in order to reduce the risk of irregular migration in the central-eastern region of Burkina-Faso, with a 2.7 million euro contribution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The sixth meeting of the Joint Development Cooperation Committee, the deliberative body of Italian Cooperation established by Law No.125\/2014, was held today.
