In addition, the evening\u2019s programme also saw all the city\u2019s Italian restaurants offer \u2018dedicated\u2019 menus at special prices to exalt the qualities of our food and wine products.\u00a0This year, four Italian and Burmese chefs &#8211; including a young Burmese chef who graduated from the ALMA International School of Italian Cuisine &#8211; held 12\u00a0cooking masterclasses for the main local hospitality institutes and for the\u00a0Myanmar Deaf Chefs Association, a NGO founded by an Italian that provides vocational training for deaf students.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time, a show-cooking event was organised at one of Myanmar\u2019s high-end supermarket chains. The event showcased different types of pasta, wine, cheese, preserves and cured meats brought by Italian producers who had the opportunity of meeting the major local distributors.<\/p>\n<p>Italian Ambassador Alessandra Schiavo expressed satisfaction for the intense programme of activities: \u201cThe many contributors \u2013 chefs, Italian restaurants, ALMA, Vocational Schools and local non-profit organisations, ICE and big distributors in Myanmar \u2013 cooperated in organising a week in Yangon in which Italian wine and gastronomy took centre stage.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A gala dinner with a special Renaissance menu to celebrate the anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci was the highlight of the Italian Cuisine Week in Yangon.
