According to the Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA), many areas of the country are still unexplored and potentially fruitful and the relevant Ministry<\/div>\n<div>is taking steps to grant permits. In particular, four potentially interesting blocks have been identified for which the\u00a0General Directorate for Oil and Gas of\u00a0the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, has recently opened a tender procedure for exploration activities. The areas involved are: Eastern Gebang (off-shore North Sumatra); Tanjung Occidentale I (on-shore Central Kalimantan); Belayan I (on-shore Kalimantan East) and Cendrawasih VIII (off-shore Papua). The first phase of the procedure envisages the presentation of applications, with deadline set for October 18th.
