A voyage between Italy and Spain” – said Design Ambassador Gilda Bojardi. “Young people, students and newly graduated professionals who participated in last year’s call launched for the Semana de la Arquitectura de Madrid – of which Interni was Media Partner – worked on the proposed themes with commitment, enthusiasm and creativity. The projects presented are linked to new concepts of living that are more transversal and multifunctional, as highlighted by today’sthree winning projects and the eight mentions which are more oriented toward a living style designed for Millennials, transitory and flexible. I am proud to announce that in April, at the FuoriSalone in Milan – of which INTERNI is the organiser and a major player – the Interni Human Spaces exhibition-event will be hosting the prototypes of the winning projects by three Italian companies: Ethimo, Ghidini1961 and Officine Tamborrino and the works of the young people mentioned above through a selected choice based on rendering and design. A spectacular setup designed by Roman architect Davide Valoppi will be placed inside the portico of the Cour d’Honneur, thus highlighting the creative synergies between Italy and Spain.” I believe that the collaboration between the young Spaniards and the three Italian companies selected by Interni is very significant, as they are highly representative of the points of excellence of Brand Italy, which is the true strength of our design.”

“It was a true pleasure for me to be a member of the jury in this competition and to be in Madrid to present its results” – said Design Ambassador Marva Griffin. “Indeed, the initiative is fully in line with the Salone Satellite’s long-lasting commitment to promote the youth and design combination.

“I am very happy to present the results of this exciting journey, that a year ago seemed to be a gamble and now is a wonderful reality, ” said Ambassador Stefano Sannino during the awarding ceremony that was at the core of Italian Design Day in Madrid. “After a year of intense work, today’s event was realised thanks to our partners’ commitment and to the enthusiasm manifested by many designers who participated in the initiative. It was a very ambitious project, that required the support of many eminent institutions and personalities from the Italian and Spanish world of architecture and design, as well as the work of three Italian enterprises of excellence. And the journey does not end here, because the initiative will see its fulfilment in April with the exhibition of the prototypes of the three winning projects in Milan, at the Fuori Salone. It is a unique opportunity and part of the Embassy’s broader strategy. In fact, through the ITmakES project, it aims to enhance the synergies between Italy and Spain in the sector of creative cultural industries, by investing on young people and on their talent.”

For the third edition of Italian Design Day, the Italian Embassy in Madrid hosted the event “Design.
