Italy will take part in the UN Youth Delegate Programme (UNYDP) this year, sending two young Italians to work with the Third Committee of the General Assembly, which is mandated to tackle questions on human rights. The programme – with delegates from 38 countries – will include young people in the work of national diplomatic missions at the UN. SIOI, the Societ\u00e0 Italiana per l\u2019Organizzazione Internazionale (Italian International Organisation company), organises the UNYDP in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Giuseppina De Marco and Tommaso Mur\u00e8 were the delegates chosen for the first edition of this programme. They are both university students and will represent the interests of young Italian people\u00a0 at the United Nations, flanking the official diplomatic delegation from our country. When they return to Italy, the two young delegates will meet students from secondary schools and universities and representatives of youth and student\u00a0organisations. They will share\u00a0their experiences and promote the work and mission of the UN, while also introducing the Programme.<\/p>\n
Firmly convinced that it is important to engage with young people and give them the tools to express themselves, Italy\u2019s participation in the UN Youth Delegate Programme is one of the initiatives promoted by our country.
