{"id":51204,"date":"2017-06-15T15:38:46","date_gmt":"2017-06-15T13:38:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2017\/06\/diplomazia-economica-italiana-15_5-2\/"},"modified":"2017-06-15T15:38:46","modified_gmt":"2017-06-15T13:38:46","slug":"diplomazia-economica-italiana-15_5-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/approfondimenti\/2017\/06\/diplomazia-economica-italiana-15_5-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Italy&#8217;s Economic Diplomacy 15 June: latest news from the world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Australia: Government announces major infrastructure project in Queensland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a02017-18 Queensland State Draft Budget\u00a0was\u00a0announced just a few days ago.\u00a0<br \/>The budget, which\u00a0envisages an increase in\u00a0public exoenditure and a reduction in the budget surplus, has the following priorities: creating new\u00a0jobs to bring the unemployment rate down to 6%, increasing infrastructure funding and incentives\u00a0to promote a transition to a new\u00a0energy system.\u00a0In particular the Government is determined to achieve a\u00a0mid-term goal of 50% of the State&#8217;s electricity generated by renewable sources. The\u00a0draft budget also envisages an increase in funding the health and education sectors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The draft budget allocates\u00a01 billion dollars\u00a0to a\u00a0specific reconstruction\/prevention fund, which was established following Cyclone Debbie, the tropical typhoon\u00a0that hit the\u00a0Whitsundays Islands and\u00a0their hinterland, a popular tourist area, only a few months ago. Cyclone Debbie severely damaged the area&#8217;s tourism and agricultural infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Cross River Rail&#8217; project ,that has been discussed for over 10 years now, is included in the draft budget and\u00a0for the first time it\u00a0will be granted a State\u00a0funding of over 2.5 billion dollars, for a total estimated amount\u00a0of\u00a05.4 billion dollars, to be fully financed by the\u00a0 Government of Queensland in the next financial years. The &#8216;Cross River Rail&#8217;\u00a0 is one of\u00a0Queensland&#8217;s key infrastructure project\u00a0that is expected to support growth in the Southern part of the Region by\u00a0creating over 7,000 new jobs. The project\u00a0envisages \u00a0the construction of a railway tunnel connecting Brisbane existing urban railway networks.
