He was born in 1943 and has written several books that have inspired various Italian contemporary film directors. On his books, Daniele Lucchetti based \u201cLa Scuola\u201d (\u201cSchool\u201d), Gabriele Salvatores \u201cDenti\u201d (\u201cTeeth\u201d) and Riccardo Milani \u201cAuguri Professore\u201d, just to mention a few. He comes from a long background as a secondary school teacher and he has contributed to the cultural columns of the daily newspaper Il Manifesto. He won the Strega Prize with \u201cVia Gemito\u201d in 2001 and released his latest novel \u201cScherzetto\u201d in 2016. The meeting with the author will be introduced and moderated by Enrica Maria Ferrara, a professor of Italian literature at Trinity College and at the IIC in Dublin. Mr Starnone has also published numerous essays on Italian and comparative literature in specialised magazines and collective volumes.
