{"id":52087,"date":"2016-12-19T14:15:27","date_gmt":"2016-12-19T13:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2016\/12\/musica-muti-a-tel-aviv-a-presentazione-2\/"},"modified":"2016-12-19T14:15:27","modified_gmt":"2016-12-19T13:15:27","slug":"musica-muti-a-tel-aviv-a-presentazione-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/approfondimenti\/2016\/12\/musica-muti-a-tel-aviv-a-presentazione-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Music: Muti in Tel Aviv for the presentation of a book on Toscanini"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maestro Riccardo Muti attended the presentation of a book dedicated to Arturo Toscanini, who conducted at the 1936 inauguration of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, at the time known as the &#8216;Palestine Symphony Orchestra&#8217;. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maestro Muti, in a sort of virtual passing of the baton between Italian musicians, will conduct the concert at the city\u2019s Bronfman Auditorium on next 20 December to commemorate the 80<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>As was recalled at the presentation by Harvey Sachs, the author of \u201cArturo Toscanini, uomo di grandissima dignit\u00e0\u201d, the Italian conductor, a proud anti-Fascist and anti-Nazi, immediately accepted the invitation to direct an orchestra comprising many renowned Jewish musicians who had fled from Hitler\u2019s Germany. \u201cToscanini \u2013 he added \u2013 went to Palestine (at the time under British Mandate) at his own expense, honoured to direct the orchestra.
