The Festival is the fruit of a long-standing cooperation between the Italian Consulate and the Italian Cultural Institute in Pretoria, the Associazione Controluce and the Labia Theatre. It aims to offer South African film-lovers and film-making professionals a selection of the latest Italian productions with a view to providing an overview of the current social, economic and anthropological situation in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>As in previous editions, the Festival will be enriched by the presence of Italian actors, directors and scriptwriters who will answer the questions asked by the public and meet their local counterparts to discuss with them possible cooperative efforts and co-productions. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 16<sup>th<\/sup> edition of the Italian Film Focus (IFF) is scheduled to screen seven films including: \u201cLe Confessioni\u201d (\u201cThe Confessions\u201d) by Roberto And\u00f2 e \u201cPerfetti sconosciuti\u201d (\u201cPerfect Strangers\u201d) by Paolo Genovese; \u201cLo chiamavano Jeeg Robot\u201d (\u201cThey Call Me Jeeg Robot\u201d) by Gabriele Mainetti, the great blockbuster film and winner of 7 David di Donatello prizes; two films screened at the last Venice Film Festival (\u201cPiuma\u201d by Roan Johnson and \u201cLa ragazza del mondo\u201d or \u201cWorldly Girl\u201d by Marco Danieli); \u201cFiore\u201d by Claudio Giovannesi (presented at the last Cannes Festival) and the documentary \u201cShashamane\u201d by director Giulia Amati.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The 16th edition of the Italian Film Focus (IFF) will be held in Cape Town from 22 to 27 November.
