The Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) in London will celebrate the bicentenary of Italian poet Ugo Foscolo’s arrival in England with a lecture by Italian essayist Piero Morales on Monday, Sept. 12. It will analyse the psychological aspects of Foscolo’s works and his cultural impact in London, especially in promoting Dante’s “Divine Comedy” among the British public. A researcher at the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA), Mr. Morales is also an expert on Foscolo’s life and works. He wrote the book “Vette. Donne, Passioni, Musica e Tragedia”, an exploration of music and literature featuring an imaginary meeting between the poet and Beethoven.<\/p>\n
\u00a0During the event, young Italian actor Lucio Veronesi will perform readings of selected works and letters related to the lecture’s topics. A bench dedicated to the poet’s memory will be unveiled in the garden of the Institute.
