The promotion of these values is traditionally a key component of\u00a0 Italy\u2019s foreign policy. Our diplomacy has always been\u00a0actively engaged\u00a0in all international fora, both multilaterally and bilaterally, in protecting human rights, sustainable development and achieving the Millennium Development Goals, protecting and celebrating our material and immaterial linguistic and cultural heritage, cultural tourism, intercultural education, developing and promoting peace and citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian schools that have entered the UNESCO Network are three state schools in Addis Ababa, Barcelona and Istanbul and five private schools: \u201cScuola Italiana Roma\u201d in Algiers, \u201cItalo Svevo\u201d in Cologne, \u201cCristoforo Colombo\u201d in Buenos Aires, \u201cFondazione Torino\u201d in Nova Lima (Brazil) and \u201cAntonio Raimondi\u201d in Lima.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative, given the undeniable symbolic value of its aim to promote United Nations values, is a valuable recognition of the work carried out by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as well as by school teachers and leaders working abroad to promote the Italian language.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Eight Italian schools abroad joined the UNESCO Associated Schools International Network in the 2015\/16 school year,\u00a0compared to the two that had taken part in 2013\/14, when the programme was first introduced.
