At the close of the general assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), which was held on Saturday Jan. 16 and Sunday Jan. 17 in Abu Dhabi, Italy was elected to chair the General Assembly next year. The IRENA is based in the United Arab Emirates and counts on the membership of 145 Countries and numerous international agencies. The assembly addressed the most topical issues in the development of renewable energy sources and in the international cooperation actions in this field. Italy participated in the Assembly with a delegation led by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr Michele Valensise.<\/p>\n
