Maria Luisa\u00a0Ceciarelli, whose stage name is Monica Vitti, is now 84 years old and hasn\u2019t set foot on a scene for many years because of an illness she suffers. Monica Vitti has acted with great class and talent in both dramatic and comic roles. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Winner of the Venice Film Festival\u2019s Golden Lion in 1995, she was the muse who inspired Michelangelo Antonioni and also Mario Monicelli for his The Girl with the Pistol (\u201cRagazza con la pistola\u201d). She was the brightest star of the \u201ccommedia all\u2019italiana\u201d (comedy, Italian style), capable of matching up to the talent of Alberto Sordi, Ugo\u00a0Tognazzi, Vittorio Gassman and Nino Manfredi.\u00a0Reserved, ironic, aloof, celestial and sexy, she is a \u201cstar of the past\u201d and it is to this star that the retrospective organised in Berlin by Kino\u00a0Arsenal\u2013Institute\u00a0for Film and Video Art and the Italian Institute of Culture is dedicated. The retrospective has screened films from the \u201860s to the \u201870s, giving a complete and varied overview of the actress\u2019s career, which was amusing, lively and joyful but also serious and quiet. Monica Vitti\u2019s image is linked to the famous comedies that have left a mark in the history of Italian cinema. (PO \/red)<\/p>\n<p><strong>The films screened<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the retrospective, Kino\u00a0Arsenal\u00a0screened all the comedies that made Monica Vitti famous: \u201cL\u2019avventura\u201d (Michelangelo Antonioni), \u201cDramma della gelosia\u201d (\u201cThe Pizza Triangle\u201d, by Ettore Scola), \u201cL\u2019Eclisse\u201d (Michelangelo Antonioni\u201d),\u00a0\u00a0\u201cIo So Che Tu Sai Che Io So\u201d (\u201cI Know That You Know That I Know\u201d, by Alberto Sordi).
