Italy is taking stock of the progress achieved on scientific and technical cooperation with China with a view to\u00a0strengthening it. A technical panel for the ‘development of scientific and technological cooperation with China’,\u00a0a collegial body set up by the\u00a0Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation\u00a0met\u00a0\u00a0today at the Farnesina\u00a0\u00a0representatives of national research, industrial associations and major ministries, to coordinate activities by Italian research centres, universities and companies in China.\u00a0The panel has already obtained several results, including a thorough study on China, dubbed \u2018Studio Cina 2014\u2019, a multi-sectorial\u00a0analysis\u00a0of Chinese scientific and industrial production systems as well as a strategy to promote Italy in\u00a0\u00a0science, technology and innovation\u00a0(STI).<\/p>\n
Furthermore the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Education, Health and the Environment, will contribute to funding\u00a0international research projects under an Executive Protocol\u00a0on scientific and technological cooperation with China\u00a0which is to be signed soon\u00a0The agreement\u00a0provides for cofunding 14 new projects by means of a bilateral joint allocation of almost three million euros over the next three years. The\u00a0Foreign Ministry, furthermore,\u00a0has decided to strengthen its network of scientific attach\u00e9s in China\u00a0and has appointed two new attaches\u00a0,\u00a0Professor Roberto Pagani and Lorenzo Gonzo\u00a0in Shanghai and Chongqing\u00a0respectively. As regards future developments, the panelalso discussed the Innovation Forum, an annual event by Italy and China which was extremely successful last year, with more than 170 organisations taking part and 200 projects.
