Africa today is a \u201ccontinent of opportunity\u201d, an area \u201cdestined to achieve interesting growth rates,\u201d said the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Paolo Gentiloni opening a conference held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs entitled \u201cMigrations and International Relations. The Italy-Africa Agenda\u201d, organised by the Piedmont Centre for African Studies together with the Institute of International Affairs (IAI). \u201cItaly has a great opportunity to contributing to assure that the faltering continent moves in the right direction,\u201d said Gentiloni, who reiterated that the Italy-Africa agenda is \u201ca central theme in our foreign policy strategy\u201d.<\/p>\n
The African continent \u201cneeds infrastructure, energy \u2013 particularly from renewable energy sources \u2013 focus on small and medium sized companies and agriculture, political stabilisation, social development and the empowerment of women,\u201d said the Italian Foreign Minister.
