A rich season of artistic and cultural events for 2016 kicked off in Jakarta with a screening of the uncut version of “Il Gattopardo” (“The Leopard”) by Luchino Visconti. The event was organised by the Italian embassy in the Indonesian capital and the Italian Institute of Culture, in collaboration with the Arkipel International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival. It will not be the only tribute to the great Italian cinema director: there will also be weekly showings of “Morte a Venezia” (“Death in Venice”), “La Terra Trema” (“The Earth Will Tremble”), and “Rocco e i suoi Fratelli” (“Rocco and His Brothers”).<\/p>\n
In addition, a photographic exhibition dedicated to another example of Italian excellence will open Monday, January 11:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Vespa, a myth: history and stories\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n “The Vespa, a myth: history and stories”, promoted by the Italian Institute of Culture in Jakarta, \u00a0will be held in the Institute\u2019s Multifunctional Hall and run till January 23. It features \u00a050 photographs by photojournalists and professional photographers of the Vespagraphy association and tells the story of the Vespa scooter in Italy and Indonesia. A modified three-wheel Vespa, the only one in the world, will also be on show.
