After completing a doctorate in aeronautics and astronautics at MIT in Boston, in 2012 thirty-year-old Romanian born Alessandro Golkar moved to Moscow to become associate director of the space centre of Skoltech University.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs opposed to Italy, Russia offers me research funding. Here I deal with space systems and the development of small satellite technologies\u201d. Alessandro spoke about his experience with<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cCartoline dall\u2019altra Italia\u201d: a web series created by 9colonne with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation\u2019s Directorate General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies. With his very impressive \u201cspace\u201d CV (50 publications, two technology start-ups and numerous international citations), Alessandro doesn\u2019t like to think of himself as part of the \u201cbrain drain\u201d phenomenon, but as a citizen of the world: \u201cTravel is normal, the future of research is international and is never limited to one country alone\u201d. In Moscow, the young engineer has also found \u201ca stunning cultural richness and a great admiration for Italy and Italians: they welcome us with open arms\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Each week \u201cCartoline dall\u2019altra Italia\u201d goes in search of the new emigration; creating links with young Italians who, either for need or simple desire, have decided to try their luck abroad. Through their testimony, the web series keeps that invisible thread linking them to Italy alive.
