The Spanish government is speeding up the digital transformation plan for the country\u2019s businesses. Jose Manuel Soria, the Minister for Industry, has presented an ambitious programme of digitalisation incentives, with the focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Digital transformation will involve different aspects of business such as organisational structure, production processes, data collection, and relations with customers and suppliers.<\/p>\n
\u201cIndustria Conectada 4.0\u201d, as the programme is known, is designed to encourage digitalisation through coordination and collaboration between the public and private sectors. Of the 780 million euro the government has provided for the industrial sector, 100 million are intended to support the adoption of new technology by businesses.<\/p>\n
The goal is to increase the industrial sector\u2019s contribution to GDP from the current 17% to 20% by the end of 2020. Spain\u2019s digital agenda includes initiatives such as the approval of the new telecommunications law; the National Smart Cities Plan, approved in March 2015; and the Language Technology Support Plan.<\/p>\n
