A young engineer living in Paris is the focus of the new segment of \u201cPostcard from another Italy\u201d, the web-series created by 9colonne with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation\u2019s Directorate General for Italians in the World and Migration Policies.<\/p>\n
A young aerospace engineer in Paris<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been living in Paris for three years now, working for PSA Peugeot Citro\u00ebn\u201d, says Giacomo Rossitto: 27 years old, with a degree in aerospace engineering from Rome\u2019s La Sapienza University. After completing an Erasmus project at the Paris Polytechnic, he is now working on his doctoral thesis in experimental aerodynamic engineering applied to automobiles. Giacomo wasted no time distinguishing himself, patenting innovative \u201csolutions for the control of aerodynamic flows\u201d while still completing an internship at PSA Peugeot Citro\u00ebn.<\/p>\n First an Erasmus student and later an employee, Giacomo found his path in Paris and has become well integrated. \u201cIt\u2019s a city that offers a lot of opportunity; from small jobs to major ones. After my doctorate, I will have to decide whether to pursue a university or business career. For the time being, I can\u2019t see my future in Italy, but I\u2019m not ruling our leaving France and possibly living in another European city. Here in Paris, in any case, I have no lack of Italian friends\u201d. With these years of study abroad under his belt, he is now able to compare the Italian and French university systems: \u201cOur theoretical base is surely better, but once students in France finish their studies, they are much more marketable because they have the chance to accumulate significant experience\u201d.<\/p>\n The new emigration<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cPostcard from another Italy\u201d travels the world in search of the new emigration, contacting young Italians that have decided to try an experience abroad, either by choice or for necessity, maintaining that invisible bond that unites them with Italy through their stories.
