The Governments of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States strongly condemn the ongoing barbaric acts by ISIL-affiliated terrorists in the Libyan city of Sirte.\u00a0 We are deeply concerned about reports that these fighters have shelled densely populated parts of the city and committed indiscriminate acts of violence to terrorize the Libyan population.\u00a0 We call on all parties in Libya aspiring to a peaceful and unified nation to join efforts to combat the threat posed by transnational terrorist groups exploiting Libya for their own agenda.<\/p>\n
We welcome the recent round of the UN political dialogue in Geneva and reiterate our full support to the UN process led by SRSG Bernardino Le\u00f3n.\u00a0 The deplorable developments in Sirte underscore the urgent need for parties in Libya to reach agreement on forming a Government of National Accord that, in partnership with the international community, can provide security against violent extremist groups seeking to destabilize the country.\u00a0 We reiterate that there is no military solution to the political conflict in Libya and remain concerned that the economic and humanitarian situation is worsening every day. We stand ready to support the implementation of a political agreement to ensure that a Government of National Accord and its national institutions can function effectively and meet the urgent needs of the Libyan people.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Siamo profondamente preoccupati dalle notizie che parlano di bombardamenti indiscriminati su quartieri della citt\u00e0 densamente popolati e atti di violenza commessi al fine di terrorizzare gli abitanti. Facciamo appello a tutte le fazioni libiche che desiderano un Paese unificato e in pace affinch\u00e9 uniscano le proprie forze per combattere la minaccia posta da gruppi terroristici transnazionali che sfruttano la Libia per i loro scopi.<\/p>\n Ci felicitiamo per la recente sessione di negoziati per il dialogo politico svoltasi a Ginevra e ribadiamo tutto il nostro appoggio al processo di dialogo guidato dal Rappresentante Speciale del Segretario Generale delle Nazioni Unite, Bernardino Leon. Gli avvenimenti terribili che stanno accadendo a Sirte sottolineano ancora quanto sia urgente che le varie fazioni libiche trovino un accordo per la formazione di un Governo di Concordia Nazionale che, in cooperazione con la comunit\u00e0 internazionale, possa garantire la sicurezza al Paese contro i gruppi di estremisti violenti che cercano di destabilizzarlo.
