Italy and Egypt are working towards stronger cooperation in the agri-food sector, including through a memorandum of understanding signed in Cairo by the minister for Agricultural Policies, Maurizio Martina, and his Egyptian counterpart, Adel el Betagy. The memorandum is designed to promote and develop collaboration and increase the exchange of information and experiences by both countries\u2019 research institutes. Italy, as our Embassy in Cairo has pointed out, is Egypt\u2019s most important European partner for agri-food trade and for cooperation in the fields of agricultural and rural development, and as the leading market for Egyptian products.<\/p>\n
During his visit, Minister Martina also met the Minister For Industry and Trade, Mounir Abdel Nour. The two discussed topics relating to EXPO Milan 2015 and bilateral economic collaboration. Martina\u2019s visit will be followed by a mission led by the Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Carlo Calenda, on 22-24 February 2014.
