The Tavola Doria, a 16<sup>th<\/sup> century panel painting of a detail of Leonardo da Vinci\u2019s famous fresco of the Battle of Anghiari in Florence\u2019s the Palazzo Vecchio, unfortunately lost, will be displayed for the first time in Japan within the framework of an agreement signed in 2012 between the museum and the Italian government.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition will move on to Kyoto for the 50th anniversary of the city\u2019s twinning with Florence, and then to Sendai, city symbolic of the calamity that hit Tohoku in March 2011. Speaking at the presentation, Giorgi underscored the \u201cexcellent collaboration\u201d between Italy and the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum in handling the loan of the artwork which, before being displayed in Japan will return to Italy for an exhibition on Leonardo in Milan for the 2015 EXPO.
