In recent days\u00a0Ambassador of Italy in Belgrade, Carlo Lo Cascio,\u00a0has\u00a0participated, together with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom Sian Macleod, in the panel “Climate Changes and\u00a0Natural\u00a0Disasters:\u00a0Transformation\u00a0Policies for a Sustainable Future” within the “Belgrade Economic Forum”, now in its 21st edition.<\/p>\n
In his speech, Ambassador Lo Cascio\u00a0has\u00a0stressed the quality of the work carried out by the Italian Civil Protection in responding to emergencies and supporting the importance of prevention in the event of disasters. Prevention – he clarified – both in terms of operator training and, above all, in terms of reducing risk factors, given their high environmental impact. He\u00a0has also\u00a0called for response planning and the involvement of all stakeholders.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is crucial\u00a0–\u00a0the Ambassador\u00a0said –\u00a0to reduce the sources of pollution and to involve the new generations,\u00a0paying heed\u00a0to their environmental sensitivity. In the light of the results obtained in Milan, we have great expectations\u00a0for\u00a0the COP 26\u00a0Summit in Glasgow co-chaired by Italy and the United Kingdom – he added – to undertake immediate and large-scale initiatives to combat climate change”.<\/p>\n
