The event is part of the\u00a0Madrid\u2019s\u00a0Dante programme, with which the Spanish capital is commemorating the seventh centenary of the death of Dante Alighieri, one of the greatest writers in the history of world literature.<\/p>\n<p>The reading will begin at 1 p.m. and will be attended by leading figures from the world of politics and culture, including: Meritxell Batet, President of the Congress of Deputies;\u00a0Nadia Calvi\u00f1o, First Vice President of the Government and Minister of Economy and Digital Transformation;\u00a0Yolanda D\u00edaz, Second Vice President of the Government and Minister of Labour and Social Economy;\u00a0Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Minister of the Interior;\u00a0Pilar Alegr\u00eda, Minister of Education and Vocational Training;\u00a0Miquel Iceta, Minister of Culture and Sport;\u00a0Luis Planas, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food;\u00a0Jos\u00e9 Luis Escriv\u00e1, Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps and personalities from the world of art and entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>The reading will be broadcast live on radio and streamed on the website of the Club of Fine Arts\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.circulobellasartes.com\/humanidades\/lectura-continuada-divina-comedia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.circulobellasartes.com\/humanidades\/lectura-continuada-divina-comedia\/<\/a>, as well as on the social channels of the Italian Embassy in Madrid. There will also be\u00a0live connections\u00a0with numerous institutions. These include the Italian Cultural Institutes of Prague, Tirana, Barcelona, Montevideo and Lima, together with the Italian State School of Athens and the Department of Humanities of the University of Eastern Piedmont, as well as the Cervantes Institutes of Manila and Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>The reading, which is organised by the\u00a0<i>Circulo de Bellas Artes<\/i>, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid and under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Madrid, is one of over thirty activities included in Madrid\u2019s Dante programme.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This Dante reading is undoubtedly a further demonstration of Spain&#8217;s great friendship with Italy,&#8221; said the Italian Ambassador to Spain, Riccardo Guariglia, who will also read passages from the Divine Comedy. &#8220;There is no better Ambassador of Italy \u2013 he added \u2013 than the great Dante:\u00a0the\u00a0participation of the general public and\u00a0of\u00a0the highest political and cultural representatives of Spain is an eloquent testimony of the relevance and universality of Dante&#8217;s message that still speaks to the new generations around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/mae\/resource\/img\/2021\/09\/madrid.jpg\" alt=\"madrid\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"On Tuesday, September 14, a non-stop reading of the entire Divine Comedy will take place at the\u00a0Circolo de Bellas Artes\u00a0in Madrid.
