The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, met the Secretary General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Angel Gurria, at the Farnesina today, 19 February 2015.<\/p>\n
Their discussion focused on cooperation on combating international tax evasion and corruption. They also discussed the OECD enlargement process, the organisation\u2019s role on issues of significant interest to Italy \u2013 investment, energy, innovation, international trade and the development of global governance \u2013 and the OECD\u2019s possible presence at EXPO 2015.<\/p>\n
Minister Gentiloni pointed out Italy\u2019s commitment in the OECD working group on corruption and the National Anti-Corruption Authority\u2019s renewed institutional mission.<\/p>\n
The meeting was an opportunity to underscore Italy\u2019s role as a training hub for the OECD. Training is provided, for example, through the National School of Administration, which hosts courses in Caserta for public officials from the countries of the Middle East and North Africa (OECD-MENA). Another initiative is the OECD-LEED (Local Economic and Employment Development) Centre in Trento.
