The film festival \u201cSpotlight on Italian Cinema\u201d, organised by the Italian Embassy in Teheran, officially opened today in Teheran, at the Iranian Artists Forum. The event, aimed at celebrating and promoting contemporary Italian cinema, will run until 26 February and, for the first time, will be held in three cities, Teheran, Kish and Shiraz.<\/p>\n
The first film to be screened was \u201cL\u2019Equilibrio\u201d by Vincenzo Marra, a guest of the festival, who presented his film and held a workshop, for an enthusiastic audience and experts, on film directing and co-productions.<\/p>\n
At the inaugural ceremony, Ambassador Perrone emphasised the profound relations between Italy and Iran in the film sector, and underlined the importance of contemporary film production, as a suggestive artistic representation of the reality of our times.<\/p>\n
The line-up of the festival features another six films: \u201cMartin Eden\u201d by P. Marcello, \u201cMia Madre\u201d by N. Moretti, \u201cLazzaro Felice\u201d by A. Rohrwacher, \u201cDove cadono le Ombre\u201d by V. Pedicini, \u201cL\u2019intrepido\u201d by G. Amelio. There will also be a screening of \u00a0\u201cLa via del petrolio\u201d, the extraordinary historical documentary shot by B. Bertolucci in Iran between 1965 and 1966.
