Six artists of the Filarmonica dell’Opera italiana (FOI) \u201cBruno Bartoletti\u201d held in Yangon on Saturday, 7 December, a concert organised by the Italian Embassy in Myanmar, titled \u201cUniting through Music\u201d. Tenor Reinaldo Droz sang pieces and arias by Verdi, Donizetti, Mascagni and Puccini, to the accompaniment of Italian musicians and the youths of the \u201cOrchestra for Myanmar\u201d and of the \u201cNew Children’s Choir\u201d, which puts together children from orphanages of different ethnic groups. The evening was deeply lyrical, with music representing the ideal bridge between the culture of Italy and of Myanmar, conveying a message of peace also denoted by the very name of the project.<\/p>\n
The event winds up \u201cItaly for Talent in Myanmar\u201d, a teaching, artistic and musical programme with a high social value launched by the Embassy in 2019 and in which all the Italian musicians who performed in Myanmar held masterclasses for the students of several local schools. Italian Ambassador Alessandra Schiavo said: \u201cThe concert of 7 December represented a new opportunity to express Italy\u2019s wish for a united and pacified Myanmar: Burmese children and youths were invited to sing and play music together with the exceptional maestros and musicians of the FOI Bruno Bartoletti, who came from Italy to help them fully express their talent and to perform with them in a unique ensemble. At the end of the day, this is the essence of music: combining and concerting different identities to create a new and unique harmony.\u201d<\/p>\n
