Italy and Algeria, that are friends and neighbours in\u00a0<\/i><i>the Mediterranean area and<\/i><i>\u00a0historically linked by a consolidated partnership in the energy sector, can develop a useful synergy to stand up to the challenges and seize the opportunities that come with the e&#8217;nergy transition&#8217;, also through new industrial partnerships, seeking to ensure a sustainable economic development.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><\/i><\/div>\n<div>Italian\u00a0 Ambassador Pasquale Ferrara, the Director General for Energy of the Algerian Ministry of Energy,\u00a0 Zoubir Boulkroun\u00a0and the Advisor Minister of the EU Delegation to Algeria, St\u00e9phane Mechati, delivered the introductory remarks. The two working sessions, chaired by Nicolo Sartori, head of the IAI\u00a0 &#8220;Energy, Climate and Resources&#8221; Programme, focused on institutional cooperation and the role of industries, respectively.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The seminar&#8217;s agenda featured several\u00a0 institutional presenters, including the representatives of\u00a0 MedReg (the Association of the Mediterranean Energy Regulators), Med-TSO (the Association of the Mediterranean Transmission Systems Operators), of the Italian Regulators of Energy Networks and Environment\u00a0 (ARERA), of the Algerian Commission of Electricity and Gas Regulators (CREG) and the Algerian Authority for Energy Efficiency Promotion (APRUE).<\/p>\n<p>Representatives of Ansaldo Energia, ANEV (Associazione Nazionale Energia del Vento, gathering 90 Italian enterprises active in wind energy), Nuovo Pignone \/ Baker Hughes and\u00a0 Sonelgaz (Algerian public company responsible for the distribution of power and gas) attended the\u00a0session dedicated to the role of industry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Today, also hydrocarbon producing countries need to get started on &#8216;energy transition&#8217;, which implies investing in de-carbonisation processes, enhancing energy efficiency and increasing the pcontribution of renewable sources to the energy mix.
