{"id":60035,"date":"2019-06-11T12:43:21","date_gmt":"2019-06-11T10:43:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2019\/06\/londra-torna-il-festival-del-teatro-italiano-2\/"},"modified":"2019-06-11T12:43:21","modified_gmt":"2019-06-11T10:43:21","slug":"londra-torna-il-festival-del-teatro-italiano-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/retediplomatica\/2019\/06\/londra-torna-il-festival-del-teatro-italiano-2\/","title":{"rendered":"London hosts Italian Theatre Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Coronet Theatre in Notting Hill, London, plays host to the Italian Theatre Festival.\u00a0Organised by the Italian Cultural Institute\u00a0in London the Festival, which is at\u00a0its second edition,\u00a0is meant to celebrate some of Italy&#8217;s most distinguished playwrights and actors.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The 2019 edition opened on\u00a0 Friday, 7 June with &#8220;Three Italian Short Stories&#8221; by\u00a0Elsa Morante, Natalia Ginzburg and Fabrizia Remondino and performed by\u00a0Greta Scacchi, Alessandra Vanzi and\u00a0 Lucy Russell. Later in the day\u00a0Fabrizio Gifuni played in &#8216;Remember Me&#8217;, a\u00a0homage to Shakespeare&#8217;s Hamlet. On 8 June, Giuseppe Battiston performed &#8216;Winston Vs Churchill&#8217;,\u00a0Carlo G. Gabardini&#8217;s\u00a0portrait of the man and the politician. Marco Paolini&#8217;s &#8216;Odysseus Fil\u00f2&#8217;, a reflection on the character of Ulysses, was the Festival&#8217;s last piece.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The Italian Cultural Institute also offered a preview of the Festival in its venue by screening Andrea Segre&#8217;s film &#8216;L&#8217;ordine delle cose&#8217; [The Order of Things]. A debate with the film director and the screenwriter Marco Pettenello followed featuring also a short\u00a0monologue by\u00a0Giuseppe Battiston.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The Festival is the first of its kind that the Institute ever organised in London. It is the result of a process that started more than a year ago with a number of meetings, conversations, readings and performances. The initiative gave British theatre audiences an opportunity to meet Italian actors, screenwriters and film directors. At the same time it was also a chance for the Italian talents to exchange views and experiences with British contemporary drama artists.
