A rare and unique look at the political and social life of Albania in the \u201820s and \u201830s is presented in the exhibition entitled \u2018The Photographic Archive of Pietro and Larissa Quaroni \u2013 Albania 1928-1931\u2019.\u00a0 The exhibition displays 85 photographs, most of which are unpublished, and taken by the diplomat and his wife during their stay at the Embassy in Tirana at that time.<\/p>\n
The exhibition that opens today at the Center for Openness and Dialogue and will run until 29 June, was co-organised by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute.<\/p>\n
In addition to the photographs, the visitors will be able to see two documents of the time as well as the entire and precious archive of the couple (with more than 750 photographs), which has been digitalised for the occasion.<\/p>\n
The protagonists of the surprisingly original images, as well as the events, people, everyday life, landscapes and traditions of Albania, were observed and experienced by the Quaronis in a context of great historic and social interest.<\/p>\n
The Archive is kept by the Quaroni family in Italy and was taken to Albania by Cristina, the grand-daughter of Pietro and Larissa, who is also in Albania, ninety years later, as the wife of the Ambassador of Spain.
