The activities of the Italian Cultural Institute in Abu Dhabi kicked off with the Italian Cinema\u00a0Week. The works of Italian contemporary masters and talented young directors will be screened in a dense billboard on programme at the Akil Cinema in Dubai and at the Manarat al Saadiyat Cinema in Abu Dhabi.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The first screening will include Paolo Sorrentino\u2019s film \u2018One Man Up\u2019 (\u2018L\u2019uomo in pi\u00f9\u2019), \u2018Reality\u2019 by Matteo Garrone, winner of the Cannes Jury Prize, \u2018Italian Race\u2019 (\u2018Veloce come il vento\u2019) by Matteo Rovere,\u00a0\u2018They Call me Jeeg\u2019 (\u2018Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot\u2019) by Gabriele Minetti, and \u2018Nico\u2019 by Susanna Nicchiarelli. The second screening will include \u2018Holding Hands\u2019 (\u2018La Tenerezza\u2019) by Gianni Amelio and \u2018Loose Cannons\u2019 (\u2018Mine vaganti\u2019) by Fernan Ozpetek, a film following in the steps of Italian-style comedy.<\/p>\n
Moreover, an immersion in Italy\u2019s historical film-making, in cooperation with the Cinema Museum of Turin, will present two restored silent films: \u2018Cabiria\u2019 (1914) and\u00a0\u2018Tigre reale\u2019 (1916).
