The largest international fresh produce fair in the world,\u00a0FRUIT LOGISTICA, welcomed 3,226 exhibitors and over 78,000 trade visitors<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>As Ambassador Luigi Mattiolo said when welcoming the Italian participants at the Italian Embassy in Berlin, Italy with its 527 companies was once again the country with the largest number of exhibitors at the Fair.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>From 6 &#8211; 8 February 2019, FRUIT LOGISTICA covered the entire spectrum of the fresh fruit and vegetable business sector, providing a complete picture of the latest innovations in terms of technological and digital systems, packaging, wrapping and recycling equipment, freight, logistics and traceability systems.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s participation was spread out across different areas of the Fair grounds with fifty companies showcased at &#8216;Piazza Italia&#8217;, the Italian Pavilion covering 1,200 square meters. The Italian Trade Agency ICE along with CSO, a cooperative company representing 14% of the Italian fresh produce sector, coordinated the setting up of the Italian Pavilion.<\/p>\n<p>Besides its traditional Italian Pavilion, that was inaugurated by the Undersecretary of State for Agricultural Policies, Alessandra Pesce, Italy also featured a &#8216;Fruit Village&#8217;, promoted by a consortium of traders from the South of Italy along with many stands showcasing different Italian regions and institutions. The &#8220;Taste the Italian Way of Life&#8221; programme was presented through the three days of the Fair. The programme, which combined fresh produce with a special gourmet menu featuring typical products, was coordinated by the Italian Trade Agency ICE.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s\u00a0FRUIT LOGISTICA\u00a0Innovation Award was presented for the first time to an Italian company for a new kiwi variety.\u00a0 Jingold presented\u00a0the &#8220;Oriental Red\u00ae \u2013 red kiwi fruit&#8221; of Cinese origin,\u00a0that not only has unique organoleptic properties, but also leaves an exotic aftertaste and boasts excellent shelf life. Three other Italian companies were shortlisted for this important industry award. CTI FoodTech presented its\u00a0Avocado Pitter 300-AVC, a\u00a0processing avocado pitter machinery. Roter Italia presented Modula, an electronic sowing machine which can be used for different crops, and\u00a0\u00a0Hortech Italia, presenting its\u00a0Slide Valeriana Eco\u00a0electrically operated full harvesting machine for lamb&#8217;s lettuce with a special comb conveyor system to optimise transport.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover 20 start-up companies were allowed to showcase their digital solutions on the last day of\u00a0FRUIT LOGISTICA&#8217;s 2019 edition.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u200bItaly participated in Berlin 2019 FRUIT LOGISTICA\u00a0with a record-number of exhibitors.
