The programme included the performance of some of the most famous arias of the Italian music tradition and a special homage to Gioachino Rossini,\u00a0whose 150<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of his death is celebrated this year, in addition to pieces of the glorious tradition of the \u201cNeapolitan School\u201d with\u00a0Domenico\u00a0Cimarosa\u00a0and a sophisticated citation from Neapolitan tradition with Stravinsky\u2019s refined Pulcinella.<\/p>\n<p>Music is the immense legacy that Naples has and continues to offer to the world and is also an essential trait of Montreal\u2019s soul. This is the reason why the Italian Embassy in Canada and the Consulate General in Montreal have brought the world\u2019s oldest theatre to the most musical city of what was once considered to be the New World for many Italians.<\/p>\n<p>The concert, organised by the Italian Embassy in Canada and the Consulate General in Montreal is part of the Government Plan to promote the image of Italy and of the \u201c#Vivereallitaliana\u201d initiative developed to disseminate and increase people\u2019s love for Italy\u2019s points of excellence and the beauty that Italy has and continues to create in all areas, starting from music.
