\u201cDemopractica\u201d,\u00a0Master Michelangelo Pistoletto’s\u00a0first exhibition in Lima, was opened at the city’s Italian Art Museum.\u00a0\u00a0A number of the artist\u2019s most important works are being shown at the exhibition that forms part of a project to relaunch the museum, an architectural jewel donated\u00a0to Peru\u00a0by the Italian community in 1921.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Curated by Brazil’s Marcello Dantas, the exhibition was opened by the Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage and Cultural Industries, Luis Felipe Villacorta, and by Ambassador Giancarlo Maria Curcio. It will be open to the public until 30 December 2018 – free of charge.<\/p>\n
The Ambassador gave the opening address just a few days after taking up his position in Lima and referred to the common interest\u00a0that Italians and Peruvians\u00a0have in art, which enables them to organise high-quality events and boost cultural relations between the two Countries. The Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage and Cultural Industries expressed his gratitude for the solid bilateral cooperation in the field of culture, emphasising the importance of Italy’s presence in Peru.<\/p>\n

By using simple, easily found materials, Michelangelo Pistoletto designs works that aim to engage the public and help encourage the quest for harmony between artists, works, spectators and the outside world. He uses his work to promote an inclusive approach that takes account of differences so that people can become more aware of how important it is to take an active role in relaunching the democratic process.<\/p>\n
The exhibition is part of a tour by the artist in a number of capital cities in the region.
