The<strong>\u00a0artist will attend<\/strong>\u00a0the opening, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday,\u00a0<strong>18 May<\/strong>, in the former Chapel of the Italian Cultural Institute at its seat in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/?q=Rua+do+Salitre,+146&#038;entry=gmail&#038;source=g\"><strong>Rua do Salitre, 146<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0in Lisbon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Exhibition forms part of the ARCO Lisboa 2018 programme of artistic events, and will be introduced by Prof. Jo\u00e3o Peixoto, President of the Department of Social Sciences of the ISEG, University of Lisbon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe \u201cMigrations\u201d series is the first solo exhibition by the artist to be held in Lisbon: A ILUS\u00c3O PERFEITA examines the relationship between geographic identity and migration. The swarms of human figures enclosed or superimposed with imaginative maps evoke the exhausting, never-ending conflict between sovereignty and national identity and the desire for freedom and refuge by hordes of migrants. Ruffo\u2019s timeless images allow the present-day drama of the unresolved issue of a colonial past to emerge, irrevocably influencing our vision of the future of humanity.
