The women in the ranks of the Afghan Army will be able to count on a healthcare facility expressly customised to their needs, in order to protect their right to health and assure them a balanced advancement in their professional career and family life. This was made possible thanks to an 8.5-million-dollar contribution that Italy decided to make for the construction of a new Paediatrics and Obstetrics Clinic at the Kabul National Military Hospital. The clinic will give high-quality services to army women and their children, providing them with a safe and protected environment in which to obtain assistance. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The initiative falls within the scope of Italy\u2019s broader action in Afghanistan, aimed at promoting the active participation of women in the Country\u2019s social, political and institutional life. As highlighted by the Italian Ambassador to Afghanistan, Roberto Cantone, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Afghan Ministry of Defence, at the presence of the Afghan Minister of Defence: \u201cItaly has chosen to stand by women, who play a crucial role in the Country\u2019s peace and reconciliation process.
