\u201cI visited UNIFIL a few months ago, where General Paolo Serra welcomed me, and I met in Rome with General Portolano following his appointment by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 17 June during the foreign ministry-hosted conference in support of the Lebanese armed forces\u201d, Mogherini specified.
\u201cThe choice of Portolano confirms the esteem that our military forces enjoy in Lebanon. We have General Serra to thank for this, who leaves Portolano a legacy of unanimous appreciation for the commitment and humanity with which the Italian troops discharge their efforts, as was communicated to me personally in all my encounters throughout the region\u201d, she concluded.
