{"id":65235,"date":"2021-11-25T11:34:30","date_gmt":"2021-11-25T10:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2021\/11\/tunisi-archeologi-italiani-a-convegno\/"},"modified":"2021-11-25T13:38:05","modified_gmt":"2021-11-25T12:38:05","slug":"tunisi-archeologi-italiani-a-convegno","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/retediplomatica\/2021\/11\/tunisi-archeologi-italiani-a-convegno\/","title":{"rendered":"Tunis: Italian archaeologists in conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A two-day debate between archaeologists will be taking place in Tunisia on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 November in the town of Teboursouk, about 100 kilometers west of Tunis, \u00a0convened by the Italian Cultural Institute of Tunis as a round table entitled \u201c<em>La pertica des Carthaginois, de la constitution au d\u00e9membrement (I er si\u00e8cle a.C.-III e si\u00e8cle p.C.)<\/em>\u201d in partnership with the Institut National du Patrimoine (INP), the Institut Fran\u00e7ais de Tunisie (IFT), the Laboratoire d&#8217;\u00e9tudes et de Recherches Interdisciplinaires et Compar\u00e9es (LERIC), FLSH &#8211; Universit\u00e9 de Sfax, the Ecole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure (ENS, Paris), the Scuola Archeologica Italiana di Carthagine\u00a0 (SAIC), and the Association Historique et Arch\u00e9ologique de Carthage (AHAC).<\/p>\n<p>The so-called Carthaginian pertica is the vast territory of Carthage which by that time had become a Roman colony (first under Julius Caesar, in 44 BC and later refounded under Octavian Augustus in 29-28 BC) with numerous villages and semi-urban agglomerations, some of which were inhabited by indigenous people who had an institutional structure of their own whilst nearby, other groups of Roman <em>cives<\/em> (Roman citizens) of the colony were organised into <em>pagi<\/em> (rural territorial districts of pre-Roman and later, Roman origin, centred on local places of worship that were initally pagan and then Christian).<\/p>\n<p>The conference will review the current situation and the new historical-epigraphic and archaeological acquisitions that relate to the Carthaginian pertica.
