Pier Paolo Patti\u2019s socially-engaged experimental multimedia art will be showcased in a new episode of the video-series produced by the Italian Embassy, called “From Tehran to Rome. A Journey through Art\u201d, presented today at the residence of the Ambassador in Tehran, Giuseppe Perrone.<\/p>\n
The documentary was accompanied by an exhibition, set up in the gardens of the Residence, of some of the Italian artist’s travel notebooks on Iran and the surrounding Middle East region, also featuring a 1970s Triumph typewriter for visitors to write down their impressions.<\/p>\n
The short film \u201cJanvier\u201d, directed by Patti in 2014 and dedicated to experimentation in music, was also screened.<\/p>\n
During the event at the Ambassador’s residence, Patti commented on his artistic experience in the following terms: \u201cArt is about sharing thought and action, it represents the urgency to express one’s vision of the world. I strive to identify areas of common interest, conceptual spaces for art that do not have geographical boundaries.\u201d<\/p>\n
Born in Nocera Inferiore in 1978, Patti has experimented with different expressive languages over the years, using unconventional media and combining composite techniques to create multisensory installations.<\/p>\n
Over the last decade, he has held several solo exhibitions, including “Roots” in Tehran in 2018, curated by Yasaman Tamizkar and Maryam Bagheri, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Italy and Europe. Between 2018 and 2020, he won two competitions, “Artist in Residence” at the IGAV in Turin and the “Paul VI Award for Contemporary Art” at the Paul VI Centre for Studies on Modern and Contemporary Art.<\/p>\n
The documentary “Pier Paolo Patti. An Artist beyond Borders”, as well as the previous five episodes of the series “From Tehran to Rome. A Journey through Art”, is available for viewing on the social channels of the Italian Embassy in Tehran.<\/p>\n
