{"id":70274,"date":"2022-01-20T16:54:02","date_gmt":"2022-01-20T15:54:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2022\/01\/praga-in-mostra-hortus-fontana-dei-sette-cieli\/"},"modified":"2022-01-20T17:57:14","modified_gmt":"2022-01-20T16:57:14","slug":"praga-in-mostra-hortus-fontana-dei-sette-cieli","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/retediplomatica\/2022\/01\/praga-in-mostra-hortus-fontana-dei-sette-cieli\/","title":{"rendered":"Prague showcases Hortus, the fountain of the seven circles of heaven"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The \u201cHortus\u201d Fountain by artist Agostino Iacurci drawing inspiration from the myth of Paradise, is made in enamelled Impruneta terracotta, and is located inside a seven steel-and-neon ring structure reminiscent of Dante\u2019s seven circles of heaven and is exhibited in the Baroque Chapel of the Italian Cultural Institute until the 4<sup>th<\/sup> of February.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to a temporary loan from the Centro per l&#8217;Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci of Prato, visitors can now admire the sculpture inspired by a miniature representing the \u201cGarden of Love or Hortus with the Fountain of Youth\u201d contained in the \u201cDe Sphaera\u201d manuscript (end of the 15<sup>th<\/sup> century), one of the most fascinating illustrated astrological books of the Renaissance. Of the original design, the work preserves the layout that, in the sculpture, appears to be sketched out of scale, assuming the appearance of a large parabolic antenna or a sort of \u201calien obelisk\u201d that induces one to ponder over the universal myth of Paradise and its significance in a world in which Nature is being progressively plundered. The perpetual motion of the water in the fountain symbolises a possible palingenesis. The work was realized by the Apulian artist Agostino Iacurci, one of the winners of the Under-35 Section of the \u201cCantica 21 Italian Contemporary Art Everywhere\u201d contest launched by the Foreign Ministry\u2019s Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation with the aim of promoting research and practice in the field of contemporary visual arts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The \u201cHortus\u201d Fountain by artist Agostino Iacurci drawing inspiration from the myth of Paradise, is made in enamelled Impruneta terracotta, and is located inside a seven steel-and-neon ring structure reminiscent of Dante\u2019s seven circles of heaven and is exhibited in the Baroque Chapel of the Italian Cultural Institute until the 4th of February.
