For the 70th anniversary of Benedetto Croce\u2019s death the Italian Cultural Institute of Toronto will present the Italian translation of \u201cBenedetto Croce and Italian Fascism\u201d by Fabio F. Rizi and organise the webinar \u201cBenedetto Croce: From anti-Fascism to the birth of the Italian Republic\u201d on Zoom on 24 February (12:30 pm, local time).<\/p>\n
The book \u201cBenedetto Croce and Italian Fascism\u201d was firstly published by the University of Toronto Press and the Italian version has now been published by Rubbettino, with the assistance of Fondazione Brigata Maiella. Rizi\u2019s book provides a detailed analysis of the political life of one of Italy\u2019s foremost philosophers (1866-1952), a research based on his political and private life, which proves that his anti-Fascism was active rather than passive. Through a whole raft of documents, including Croce\u2019s private diaries and archive material, Rizi sheds light on the portrait of a renowned Italian intellectual figure, unveiling new aspects and clarifying some misunderstandings concerning his involvement in Italian politics and the stance he took against Fascism, until his death.<\/p>\n
