The Nutrinform Battery system has been proposed by Italy as part of the negotiations to harmonise the European Union\u2019s food labelling system.<\/p>\n<p>The event is being organised by the <strong>Farnesina<\/strong> in cooperation with <strong>Federalimentare<\/strong>, the body representing the Italian food and beverages industry. It will bring together representatives of the diplomatic and political communities, the institutions, the industrial sector and the academic world. Participants include the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, <strong>Luigi Di Maio<\/strong>, the Minister for Agricultural Policy, <strong>Stefano Patuanelli<\/strong>, the Minister for Health, <strong>Roberto Speranza, <\/strong>the Secretary General of the Farnesina, Ambassador <strong>Ettore Francesco Sequi<\/strong>, and the President of Federalimentare, <strong>Ivan Vacondio<\/strong>. The Minister for Economic Development, <strong>Giancarlo Giorgetti<\/strong>, will join the event remotely. It will be closed by Undersecretary of State <strong>Vincenzo Amendola<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nutrinform Battery<\/strong> is the food labelling system supported by Italy in the EU negotiations as an alternative to the <strong>Nutriscore traffic-light system. Nutrinform<\/strong> is a <strong>non-discriminatory <\/strong>system based on objective, manipulation-proof data. The information is used to measure the nutritional value of <strong>people\u2019s overall diet, rather than different categories of food<\/strong>. This makes it an important tool to encourage more informed choices by consumers and more responsible behaviour by producers. It also respects the unique features of the <strong>Mediterranean Diet<\/strong>, which enjoys UNESCO Intangible World Heritage status, and traditional diets.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation will be a hybrid event.
