Italy\u2019s Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Benedetto Della Vedova, on a diplomatic mission to the Republic of Moldova, met today in Chi\u015fin\u0103u with Nico Popescu, Moldova\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.<\/p>\n
The talks began with an exchange of views on the security situation in the region and on the Ukrainian crisis. Mr Della Vedova and Mr Popescu also stressed the excellent relations existing between the two countries, underpinned by the large and active Moldovan community in Italy and by the entrepreneurial dynamism of Italian businesses in Moldova, as well as by solid economic ties. The meeting particularly focused on the cooperation between the two countries, from justice and domestic affairs to the multilateral sphere, with Italy\u2019s support to Moldova\u2019s participation in the UNIFIL and KFOR missions.<\/p>\n
\u201cItaly has warmly welcomed the pro-European stance of the new Moldovan government \u2013 Mr Della Vedova pointed out \u2013 We strongly support the reforms agenda and we are ready to provide our expertise in this regard, in order to help the country pursue its path leading to European Union accession\u201d.<\/p>\n
