Italy\u2019s Ambassador in Dar es Salaam, Marco Lombardi, met with Hussein Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar, yesterday, 22 February. During their meeting, Ambassador Lombardi presented a number of initiatives that aim to bring benefit to both Italy and Zanzibar.<\/p>\n
Lombardi pointed out that Italy supported, in 2021, the creation of Hotel Association Zanzibar (HAZ) and that it is encouraging further economic cooperation, including through the organisation \u2013 alongside ITA (Italian Trade Agency) \u2013 of an Italy-Tanzania Business Forum to be held in Zanzibar and in Dar es Salaam next September. The Italian private sector has invested over two billion dollars in Zanzibar.<\/p>\n
The Ambassador also highlighted the growing interest of Italian airlines in using Zanzibar\u2019s renovated Karume airport, in order to offer new routes, thus ensuring more connections between our country and Tanzania.
