At the initiative of the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin and with the sponsorship of the Italian Embassy, the \u2018\u2019Laboratorio Leopardi\u2019\u2019 was opened at the University of Potsdam with the aim of making the first unabridged translation of the \u2018\u2019Zibaldone\u2019\u2019, supplemented with a critical comment on the relationship between Leopardi\u2019s work and German culture.<\/p>\n
The project \u2013 developed at the initiative of Luigi Reitani, the former director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin who died recently \u2013 is headed by Cornelia Klettke, full professor of Romance Studies at the University of Potsdam, in collaboration with Franco D\u2019Intino, full professor at Rome\u2019s University La Sapienza and director of the University\u2019s \u201cLaboratorio Leopardi\u2019\u2019. Italian researcher Carlo Mathieu was appointed scientific coordinator.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday we celebrate the start of a fascinating project that the Italian Embassy is proud to sponsor,\u201d\u00a0said Ambassador Varricchio in his address.
