This was the comment by Foreign Minister Emma Bonino, in New York with Prime Minister Letta to represent Italy at the United Nations. \u201cThis result bears witness to the huge importance placed by Italy, the first country, with Germany, to complete the ratification procedures, on the issue of regulating the arms trade.\u201d, added Minister Bonino. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>\u201cThe United Nations Arms Trade Treaty arose from the need to make the trade more transparent and more secure by introducing principles and criteria to oversee the movement of these materials and to combat illegal trafficking\u201d. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>\u201cOur country is one of the most active in encouraging the highest possible number of countries to sign the ATT. Italy is also raising awareness in the European Parliament.
