Italy will contribute to the international humanitarian response to the Ukraine crisis with 25 million euro. The Italian funding was approved yesterday, 10 March 2022, by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Marina Sereni. It responds to the appeals from the United Nations system and the international Red Cross movement following the deterioration in the humanitarian situation in Ukraine. The funding will enable the leading multilateral bodies to provide help, including through civil society organisations, to the most vulnerable people who have stayed in Ukraine or those who have fled to neighbouring countries, which are welcoming them with commendable generosity.<\/p>\n
It will help, in particular, the activities of the following organisations: the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the United Nations children\u2019s fund, UNICEF,\u00a0 the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).<\/p>\n
The funding is a tangible sign of Italy\u2019s close solidarity with the Ukrainian people, who have been struck by an unjust and unprovoked attack.
