The delegation was made up of members of the government and of the national Transition Committee, and of religious communities and civil society. Led by the Minister for Communications with responsibility for Reconciliation, the delegation and its members were the guests of the Community of Sant\u2019Egidio, entrusted with supporting mediation in the nation-building process. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the main challenges that will need to be tackled to restore the rule of law and rebuild the Central African Republic. The country is suffering a serious humanitarian and security crisis which has caused violence and produced refugees and displaced persons among the civilian population. The delegation reiterated to Under-Secretary Giro the undertaking they made in a declaration signed at the Community of Sant\u2019Egidio during their visit. In so doing, they confirmed their common commitment to find a peaceful solution to the crisis, cease the violence, reform the security structuresand engage in dialogue with all elements of civil society. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>The Under-Secretary expressed the Italian government\u2019s appreciation of the initiative and restated our country\u2019s commitment to promoting more convinced assistance from the international community for the Central African Republic\u2019s reconstruction and reconciliation process. <\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mario Giro, met representatives of the Central African Republic at the Farnesina today.
