The Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava, in partnership with the Centro Cinema of Cesena and the Kino Lumi\u00e8re of Bratislava, organized an exhibition displaying the photos of the set of Pier Paolo Pasolini\u2019s film \u2018\u2019Mamma Roma\u2019\u2019, filmed in 1962 and starring Anna Magnani.<\/p>\n
The film is the crux of the \u201cRoman Trilogy\u201d (Accattone, Mamma Roma, La ricotta) that arose from Pasolini\u2019s love of \u201cthe last\u201d and from the care with which he attempted to give voice to the suburbs of a city and of a country that were quickly changing face. Rome\u2019s working-class suburbs \u2013 from Casal Bertone to Quadraro, and to Parco degli Acquedotti \u2013 thus become the focus of Italian cinema. To star in \u2018\u2019Mamma Roma\u2019\u2019, Pasolini chose Anna Magnani, the historical face of Italian cinema. She plays a prostitute with a big mother\u2019s heart who tries to redeem herself in order to give a future to her son Ettore, but she won\u2019t succeed. The photos of the set were taken by Divo Cavicchioli and Angelo Novi, who collaborated with Pasolini in the backstage of several films.
