{"id":7503,"date":"2013-08-15T17:31:00","date_gmt":"2013-08-15T15:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2013\/08\/20130815_bonconvocambeg-2\/"},"modified":"2013-08-15T17:31:00","modified_gmt":"2013-08-15T15:31:00","slug":"20130815_bonconvocambeg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2013\/08\/20130815_bonconvocambeg\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister Bonino sends for Egyptian Ambassador: &#8220;Use of brute force disproportionate and unjustifiable&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>Minister for Foreign Affairs Emma Bonino summoned the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Amr Mostafa Kamal Helmy, to the foreign ministry this afternoon.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>The minister firmly condemned the acts of violence that took place yesterday in Egypt, expressing pain and shock at the high cost in human lives and asserting that, \u201cThe use of force by the police was brutal, disproportionate and unjustifiable\u201d. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>Italy strongly advocates the timely cessation of the state of emergency, all violence on both sides and indiscriminate repression and political arrests, and that the Egyptian forces of order conduct themselves with the maximum self-control.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>Minister Bonino also expressed the hope that the Muslim Brotherhood leaders work to stop the protests and maintain the peace, ensuring, in particular, security and access to places of worship.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>The minister also stated, during her meeting with Ambassador Helmy, that Italy\u2019s expectation is that \u201cEgypt is able, as soon as possible, to resume a democratic process founded on the normal functioning of civil institutions and that guarantees the maximum inclusion of all the country\u2019s political forces, including the Muslim Brotherhood\u201d.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>\u201cThe future of Egypt is in the hands of its people\u201d, Bonino insisted, \u201cand it is everyone\u2019s responsibility, first and foremost the interim government, to work toward establishing the conditions for resumption of the democratic transition\u201d.<\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Minister for Foreign Affairs Emma Bonino summoned the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Amr Mostafa Kamal Helmy, to the foreign ministry this afternoon.
